The Pledges We Have Gathered in the Past
- 1) Bundle up instead of increasing heat.
2) Skip a shower or bath - no need to collect water waiting as usual today.
3) Salvage some volunteer Swiss chard seedlings in my garden.

- I will not eat meat on Nov. 25th, and I will continue to reduce my red meat and dairy consumption, which gives off methane. I will continue to choose glass and metal food containers over plastic (plastic is made from oil). I will not accept a plastic bag if offered. I will not purchase bakery or prepared meals in plastic take-out containers. I will reduce wasting food and will compost to stop the extra methane produced at landfills. I will purchase as much non-GMO and organic, local food as possible. I will convert my laundry and dishwasher use to run overnight or on weekends during off-peak hours to put less stress on the increased energy demands during peak times. I will reduce my driving as much as possible, consolidating errands (until I can afford an electric or hybrid car). I will continue to rescue furniture and recyclable material from my neighbors left at the curb and deliver them to a proper charity for re-use or a recycling facility. I will give away some LED lightbulbs to low-income neighbors to replace high-energy ones they may still have. I will update my 30-year-old boiler for a more energy-efficient one in 2018. - Toni-Jean S., Troy, NY USA
